The Mill carrier had become very silted over a long period. Given the recent reduced water flows, the channel can be safely narrowed and the silt used as backfill behind the spiling. Wide margins are provided, hugely enhancing the aesthetics of the channel, and also improving the habitat for inverbrates and giving potential for water voles.
