Mitigation
Five Rivers has experience of carrying out mitigation works that are necessary to compensate for loss or damage to habitats under development.
We have designed our own tools to improve methods for grassland and wet heath turf translocation. This work requires a flexible approach to maintain the integrity of the translocated turf since different soil conditions, depth of associated soil and, of course, tight timescales have an impact on how to achieve the desired high quality result.
In cases where translocation is not a practical option, creation of compensating habitat has been carried out. Typically these projects would be focussed on creating desirable habitat characteristics for the benefit of particular groups of species, for example invertebrates, amphibians or reptiles. |
